FSSAI NEWS 1. FSSAI has launched Swath Bharat Yatra under the Eat Right India Initiative
In order to curb the aggravating issues of food hygiene and safety in India, FSSAI has come up with the initiative of Eat right India. Under that initiative, Swasth Bharat Yatra is being organised. This is a PAN-India cyclothon which will be scheduled by FSSAI. Swasth Bharat Yatra is aimed at battling the lifestyle epidemic like diabetes, obesity, micronutrient malnutrition and heart diseases. The cyclothon flagged off on World Health Day(October 16, 2018) from six different locations covering about 2000 locations. It will culminate at New Delhi on January 27, 2019.
Over 150 volunteer-cyclists, along with the Eat Right Mobile Unit and the Mobile Food Testing Unit, will travel across the country over 100-plus days to engage citizens on the issues of food safety, combating food adulteration and healthy diets.

FSSAI News 2. Microbiological Food Safety Event organised jointly by three major companies
A two-day international Symposium on Microbiological Food Safety: Sampling and testing in Food Safety Management was jointly organised by FSSAI, the International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Foods (ICMSF) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) Initiative on Food Safety Sciences (CHIFSS).
In order to promote the latest developments in microbiological sampling, testing, and statistical interpretation, this event was organised. The FSSAI-industry collaboration aims to strengthen science-based food safety capability building in India and this is progressing rapidly. With the advent of the globalization of the food supply chains, there is an impact on food safety and quality aspects of food across global markets.
FSSAI NEWS 3. Online Food Aggregators have finally shelved the illegal food vendors which were registered with them
The results of the strict move of delicensing illegal food vendors registered by online food aggregators by FSSAI can finally be observed in the industry. The order implemented in the month of July was immediately followed by all the leading food aggregators. It is astonishing to see the results as the food aggregators have delisted 8500 eateries which do not comply with FSSAI regulations. These food regulators have been directed to share the list of delisted hotels/restaurants so that the action can be initiated against defaulters.
